St. Paul's Outside The Walls


The basilica is dated back to the 4th century, but was rebuilt after fire of 1823 with the original design. It is one of the most beautiful of Rome, because is full of colour, the people appreciate the spectacular 80 columns lining in the centre of the basilica.

Ara Pacis Augustae

The Ara Pacis is the first architecture work in the city center from Fascism time, designed by Richard Meyer & Partner Architects. The Museum has been created entirely with tempered glass and Roman travertine marble, which has been used to realised Piazza Augusto Imperatore. This Museum was decreed by Roman Senate in 13 BC to honour the return of emperor Augustus from Gaul and Spain. Inside you will find the " Altar of Peace" commissioned by the first Roman emperor Octavian Augustus in 9 BC and represents 30 years of imperial history, from Ceaser to the peace and stability ensured from Augustus; while in the east side you will find the incredible relief of Tellus " Mother Earth".

Arch of Constantine


Built 315, restored 18th century, celebrated Constantine's victory over Maxentius. Almost 25 metres tall, it is the largest triumphalarch preserved in Rome. Recent studies raised that the arch reused previous masonary structures, probably of the 2nd century A.D.

The Caracalla Thermal Baths are the best preserved and most studied example of the great Imperial thermal baths.The thermal could accommodate 10-15 thousand bathers a day.Nowadays the water is not running any more, but you can visit the exercise area, librarie, art galleries etc.and gardens.
Most of rich marble was removed during the years but remaining mosaics can give you an imagine how was bathing in Rome.

Castel San'angelo

It was completed in 80 B.C; was restored in 217 A.D; damaged many times by earthquakes and barbarians; hosted more then 400 years of bloody battles between gladiators and wild beast were once held. You can just walk around outside or you can get inside, if you wanna have an idea of the seating areas and discovering the arena floor.

Domus Aurea

Nero's "Golden House" is one of the most impressive imperial residence, for its frescoes and stuccoes. In the early 2nd century, the emperor Trajan used what remained of the Domus Aurea as the foundations for his baths, transforming the splendid reception halls in to the present-day dark underground rooms. Only 20 percent survives, is in restoration until the end of 2007.

Mouth of Truth

Pantheon

The Pantheon is one of the most majestic buildings in the world, and has survived almost intact, is an axample of the harmony and elegance of the Roman architecture. The Pantheon of today is completely differnt from the original, is the work of Emperor Hadrian, who rebuilt the monument in the early 2nd century, keeping only the ancient inscription. Inside you can admire the dome with a large open "eye", of a diameter of 9 metres. This monument today is the sanctuary of the kings of Italy: in fact it holds the tombs of Victor Emmanuel II, Humbert I and Margherita di Savoia, and the Raphael's tomb.

Piazza Navona


This beautiful Baroque style piazza built over the Ist century AD Domitian's Stadium, Its original use for athletic games; in the center of the square rises the famous Fountain of the Four Rivers, designed by Gian Lorenzo Bernini to support a magnificent obelisk; and the magnificent church of Sant'Agnes by Borromini. The piazza is surrounded by excellent cafθs and ice-cream shops, sitting down for cappuccino or for dinner is really worth it. It is also possible to walk around and meet artists and intellectuals, or buy a nice caricature for home.

 
Piazza di Spagna


It is the most popular and the most original square in the World for its 18th century staircase the well known (Spanish Steps), since the 17th century it has been the meeting place for travelers coming from all over the world. At the end of the staircase you can find " Fontana della Barcaccia" designed by Bernini. Nowaday is considered fashon street because of the boutiques of famous designers such as Missoni, Valentino ,Dolce and Gabbana etc.
